59 Times the Pain - End of the Millennium

End of the Millennium

This is already the 3th CD I bought of this Swedish band (previous albums were More Out Of Today and Twenty Percent Of My Hand). And this means alot: I don't think there's another hardcore-band in my collection of which I own more than two albums. . It's not that I don't like the sound of hardcore, but the thing that keeps bothering me are the (usually) screaming vocals in those bands. Not so with 59TTP: Magnus' greasy 'double tongue' singing is sounding the way it should. His voice is really unique. Mixed with the great riffs and melodic (though thriving) guitars it makes 59TTP one of my favorites in the heavier category. There's some real aggressive numbers and others that are really sounding a bit less 'hardcore'. I think it's a good idea for this old sucker to sometimes build in a little respiration. It sure keeps your attention through the entire album. As I'm writing this I'm listening to this album for the second time and I have to say it's worth every penny I spent.
